MICHAEL SCHENKER To Take Part In 'All-Star' Recording Session
November 22, 2004Legendary guitarist Michael Schenker has outlined his upcoming activities in the following posting on his official web site:
"To go to Japan [on November] 28th to work with a Japanese artist then fly back to the States to L.A. for an 'all star band' recording. What I know so far is that the rhythym section will be MR. BIG's bass player Billy Sheehan and Simon Philips (JEFF BECK, TOTO, THE WHO, MSG and many others) on drums. Vocals so far, involve Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW) and Tommy Shaw (STYX). I'll be playing lead guitar only on all songs.
"Then I'll fly back to Germany to do 3 concerts with a friend of mine and play on his album. It's THE SIGGI SCHWARZ BAND. I will only play lead on this recording as well.
"Then back to the States to record SCHENKER/PATTISON 'Summit-Endless Jam, Part 2' with Mike Varney. The bass player this time will be Tim Bogert, who played with CACTUS and BECK, BOGERT AND APPICE. On drums still is the one and only Aynsley Dunbar, who by the way, has the same birthdate as me and MSG's keyboard/guitar player Wayne Findley.
"Are there any good bass players and singers out there with the same birthdate for the January 10th project? Just kiddin'? Well, maybe not. Anyway, I am having so much fun going from project to project, being there in the moment. Creating on the spot and playing lead guitar only. I could do this for the rest of my life. I am also happy that this way my lead guitar can be heard outside of MSG and reach new people. Hopefully a new generation as well.
"In January, the '25 years of MSG CD', titled 'Tales of Rock 'n' Roll', will be finished recording and ready for release in February. January 21st and 22nd, I'll be at the NAMM show in L.A. working with Dean Guitars. I have been offered by Dean Guitars to develop a Michael Schenker Model. Finally. They are really nice people, build great guitars, and are very supportive.
"I have had a lot of reports coming in this past year that people are being healed through my God-given music and being. That is the most exciting news of all. Thank you, God."
